Building Confident Readers.
Developing Future Leaders.
We’re excited to launch Leaders Who Read, a monthly literacy-based community service program hosted by Full STEAM Ahead at the Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library!
This program brings our community together in a powerful way where middle and high school students (ages 12–18) can earn verified community service hours by mentoring and reading with younger students and our K–2 readers receive fun, engaging reading support to help build confidence, fluency, and a lifelong love of books.
Leaders Who Read gives:
Early readers one-on-one and small-group support
Teens meaningful leadership experience
Families a safe, uplifting space to grow together
Our community stronger literacy foundations

Let’s grow readers, build leaders, and strengthen our community — one story at a time!
Leaders Who Read is a literacy-cantered leadership program that emphasizes reading a pathway to confidence, communication, and self-awareness. Through guided reading, discussion, and mentorship, participants learn that strong leaders become strong thinkers and strong leaders!
Reading proficiency directly impacts academic success, self esteem, and long term opportunity. This program goes beyond fluency by helping students see themselves as voices that matter. Literacy is one of the most reliable predictors of educational outcomes. Therefore, this program was designed to nurture leadership while addressing early learning gaps.
Our student participants will gain the following:
Increased reading confidence and comprehension
Public speaking and communication skills
Leadership identity and self-expression
Positive reading role models
